Radio Pakistan airing special programmes to mark death anniversaries of renowned folk singers

Islamabad, July 02, 2012 (PPI-OT): Coming up to its traditions‚ Radio Pakistan is airing special programmes to mark the death anniversaries of renowned folk singers‚ Aalam Lohar‚ Allan Fakir‚ and Mai Bhagi this week.

Half an hour duration programme will be aired at 1630 hrs. on Tuesday‚ July 3 to remember the great folk singer Aalam Lohar on his 43rd death anniversary. Aalam Lohar‚ who started singing at the age of 13 has five thousands albums to his credit.

Radio Pakistan will air a program at 1605 hrs on Wednesday‚ July 4 on the occasion of the death anniversary of renowned folk singer‚ Allan Fakir. He is one of the foremost exponents of Sufi music in Pakistan. He is particularly known for his ecstatic style of performance marked with extreme devotional rhetoric and Sufi dance singing.

A Special programme will be aired at 1630 hrs on Saturday‚ July 7 to remember the great folk singer‚ Mai Bhagi‚ who used to mesmerize the audience by singing the poetry of Shah Latif and other Sufi poets.
