Qaim presides meeting regarding development schemes of Sindh

Karachi, November 05, 2012 (PPI-OT): Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah today presided a meeting of Planning and Development and Finance departments to review the progress on-going and new development schemes of ADP-2012-13 at C.M House.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah emphasized the need to complete the maximum on-going schemes in the province before February 2013, while work on new schemes be accelerated so as to complete the same in the interest of the public.

He directed the P and D and Finance departments that net saving amount of budget be released to essential departments with maximum schemes pertaining to benefit and interest of general public for which schemes of education., health, roads and other sectors be given priority.

He added that present government intends to provide basic facilities to common men and another amount of 25% be released for only on-going schemes and substantial amount may be provided for those schemes which are near towards completion.

ACS (Finance)Mr. Muhammad Arif Khan in his briefing about Public Sector Development Program 20112-13 informed that the provincial government approved Annual Development Program depicting 261 schemes with total allocation of Rs. 161.000 billion, which included 1288 on-going and 1323 new schemes. He added that so far Rs. 31.682 billion have been released and expenditure up to 31-10-12 is Rs. 9.173 billion. According to details, there are 1019 schemes of Transport and Communications, 163 schemes of Water and Sanitation, 157 schemes of Education, 209 schemes of Special projects, 70-of Agriculture, 29 of Forest, Wildlife, and Coastal Development Authority, 25 of Industries, 352 of PP and H, 35 of Coal And Energy, 13 of Mines and Minerals, 156 of Health, 31 of Sports, 17 of Youth Affairs, 48 0f Culture, 18 of Tourism, 17 of Auqaf, Zakat and Religious Affairs, 20 of Women Development, 52 of Special Packages, 30 Antiquities, 13 of Social Welfare, 25 of Science and Technology and other schemes are being implemented.

The meeting was attended among others by Principal Secretary tCM Mr. Muhammad Siddique Memon, Special Secretary (P and D) Dr. Noor Alam, Special Secretary Finance and other officers of P and D and Finance Department.
