Karachi, December 02, 2012 (PPI-OT): Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah today warmly welcomed the 7- member delegation of China Investment Corporation led by President CIC Mr. GAO XIQING. Sindh Minister for Agriculture Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, Sindh Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Revenue Minister Jam Mehtab Dahar, Chairman Sindh Board of Investment Mr. Zubair Motiwala, Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas, Secretary Coal Mr. Aijaz Ali Khan; President Engro Corporation Mr. Aliuddin Ansari, CEO Sindh Engro Coal Mining company Mr. Shamsuddin Shaikh; Additional Secretary; Mr. Abdul Karim Ansari and Arbab Muhammad Arif of President Secretariat, and officers of Board of Investment were also present.
Chief Minister Sindh welcomed CIC delegation at Karachi- the capital of Sindh province and said that President Mr. Asif Ali Zardari is also very keen to brief the delegation, with detailed presentation for participation and association in Coal and Energy projects in Sindh Province. Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that Sindh is the second largest province of Pakistan which possess resources, which have yet not been exploited.
He said that it is the democratic government which has made efforts for utilization and exploitation of Thar Coal resources. Chief Minister Sindh said that there is shortage of energy in the country, and overall development is hampered due to want of energy.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah informed the Chinese delegation that the samples of Thar Coal were assessed and checked in a world forum body and Thar Coal was also declared as best coal out of -4 best samples, which can be used for power plants. He added that main problem is shortage of finance, while many investors are coming to invest in the Thar Coal project, while the Government is providing all incentives and facilities to intending investors.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah further said that that is first time that the Provincial Government is participating in a major projects with private sector. He added that Federal Government and Sindh Government have similar vision that there should be one window operation so far Coal and Energy schemes are concerned.
Chairman, Sindh Board of Investement Mr. Zubair Motiwala also highlighted the potential and resources available in Sindh province. He said that Thar area has been declared as Special Economic Zone while there is 350 km Coastal belt with big quality fish and shrimps. President CIC Mr. GAO XIQING said that their firm will be happy to participate in Thar Coal and Energy Project. He assured that they have came here with all preparations and hed met with President of Pakistan and other dignitaries.
He added that there is remarkable progress and there are expectations of participation. Later, the Chief Minister presented shield of C.M Secretariat to President of Chinese delegation and Khais, Ajraks and Sindhi caps to all numbers of delegation.
