He said that Karachi is being considered as mini Pakistan where people coming from all over country and foreign countries are residing and as such we are rightly approaching Federal Government for their contribution to get the water projects of Karachi completed.
This he said while presiding over meeting regarding implementation on greater Karachi water supply scheme and 50% cost sharing by Sindh Government in the Water Supply project for Pakistan Textile City limited Karachi held at CM House Karachi today.
The Sindh Minister for Information and Local Govenrment Mr. Sharjeel Inam Memon, Administrator KMC Saqib Soomro and the officers of Water Board attended the meeting. The Chief Minister Sindh said that Sindh government has already contributed a lot by providing 1250 Acre Land at nominal charges for establishment of Pakistan Textile City at Karachi with a view to encourage the industrialization, create job opportunities for the people and raise the gross domestic production (GDP) of the country as such the other stakeholders like Federal Government and the Management of Pakistan Textile City Limited Karachi were suppose to contribute the project reciprocally.
However he nodded for paying 50% of present outstanding and made it clear that henceforth the Sindh government would not be responsible for price escalation of the project due to any delay by Federal Government.
The Chief Minister Sindh said that Irony is that the scheme of water supply for Textile City Karachi was prepared at its estimated cost of Rs: 636 million, in 2008 but later on this scheme was revisited at its revised cost of Rs 1547 million he said that naturally it caused huge financial burden to the Sindh Government.
