Karachi, April 19, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has appreciated the maximum utilization of released Development fund and has sanctioned additional amount of Rs. 120 million to the Forest and Wildlife Department enabling it to complete at least two major schemes out of 23 ongoing development schemes. The Chief Minister Sindh directed the authorities to recovers and evacuate occupied forest land and also to undertake proper planning for conversation, preservation and protection of wildlife in the province.
In the wake of his development wise meetings, to review the ongoing development works, The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah today presided over meeting to ascertain the performance of provincial Forest and Wildlife Department at CM House Karachi today. The Sindh Minister for Forest Giyan Chand Esrani, Additional Chief Secretary P and D Department Muhammad Wasim, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput and Secretary Forest, Chief conversation wildlife, forest and other officers attended the meeting.
The Additional Chief Secretary P and D, while briefing the meeting informed that forest, wildlife and environment department have total 23 different development schemes to execute which include 8 ongoing and 2 new schemes of forest, 8 ongoing and one new of environment department and 3 ongoing and one new scheme of wildlife department.
He said that an allocation of Rs. 9.7 billion has been made in current ADP, for these schemes by which Rs. 9.6 billion has been released and utilization of this released amount till date is reported as 79% which was satisfactory.
When meeting was informed that two schemes each for Habitate restoration and promotion of Eco-Tourism through development of wildlife Safari Park in Booharki forest District Badin needs Rs. 88 million and scheme for Rehabilitation and Restoration of floura and founa at Pai forest- Sakrand District Shaheed Benazirabad needs 32 million to complete by the end of June 2015, The Chief Minister Sindh sanctioned additional amount of Rs. 120 million to complete these scheme within two months.
Addressing the meeting The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that forest, wildlife and environment were very much important departments not only to maintain, natural environment Eco-System but also to ensure Socio. Economic upliftment of the people.
He said that keeping in view the environment and geographical importance of Sindh the Sindh Government has launched a comprehensive scheme for establishment of Biodiversity Park in Sukkur, Larkana, Ghotki, Khairpur, Matiari, Tharparkar, Thatta and Dadu with estimated cost about 500 million and directed authorities concerned to pay special attention to complete these schemes in stipulated period.
The Provincial Minister for forest Giyan Chand Esrani, while briefing the meeting said that more than 13,000 forest land has been got evacuated from land grabbers. He said that the legal allottees of forest land have been made bound to maintain 25% forest on their allotted land. He said that a grant operation to get the illegal occupied forest land evacuated was being planned. He said that Sindh was rich for the Eco-Tourism parks and his department was planning for exploitation of these sites for the betterment of people.
