Srinagar, March 31, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the so-called Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes when a member said that the puppet administration was afraid of the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, and had kept him under continued house arrest.
The issue came up when pro-India National Conference legislator, Dr Mustafa Kamaal, praised the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for asking youth not to pelt stones on tourists.
The Independent MLA, Engineer Abdur Rasheed, reacted to Kamaal’s statement by saying that not only Mirwaiz but every Hurriyet leader including Syed Ali Gilani had been urging youth not to pelt stones on tourists.
Rasheed said that through his statement Kamaal had rebutted the puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, who told the House last week that pro-liberation leaders were ‘fanning the violence’ in the Valley. “He (Kamaal) must tell the House whether Omar is speaking truth or he?” he demanded.
Engineer Rasheed said that it was good that the administration had released Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from house detention. “But why are you continuing with the detention of Syed Ali Gilani. Why is he not allowed to offer (Friday) prayers?” he asked.
Rasheed was confronted by National Conference leader, Agha Syed Ruhullah. However, he responded, saying, “You are afraid of Gilani and that is why you are keeping him under detention.”
“Kashmir is a disputed territory, not an integral part of India. Unless Kashmir issue is resolved, it will come back to haunt the government,” Rasheed added.
