‘Punjab Industrial Regulatory Authority’ to help developing industrial zones in Southern Punjab: President MCCI

Multan, January 19, 2017 (PPI-OT):The business community of Southern Punjab has steps taken by the Punjab Government for the promotion of Industry and developing more industrial zones in the province. Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has constituted a Special Committee constituted to design legal framework for the proposed “Punjab Industrial Regulatory Authority” (PIRA). President of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that PIRA would help in developing of industrial zones and Industries according to the specification.

He said that the proposed “Punjab Industrial Regulatory Authority” will oversee the enforcement of all these bylaws. All the industrial units situated in industrial estates and working under the Punjab Small Industries Corporation along with the thousands of other industrial units working in the jurisdiction of development authorities like, MDA, LDA etc and municipal corporation, Committees administrations all over the Punjab will get their site plans approved from the Building Control Authorities (BCA).

The draft recommendations have been finalized in line with Pakistan Standards Control documents prepared by Pakistan Engineering Council. These will be sent to the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for approval after which the draft bill will be tabled before the Punjab Assembly for promulgation.
