Lahore, March 18, 2015 (PPI-OT): Punjab government has appointed former LCCI Senior Vice President and former Chairman of Pakistan Poultry Association Abdul Basit as Chairman of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT).
Punjab government has taken this significant initiative while keeping in view the services of Abdul Basit for the cause of trade, industry and economy.
While thanking to the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, newly appointed Chairman of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) Abdul Basit has said that he would Promote Punjab Board of Investment and Trade as a facilitation center for the investors.
“I am well aware of the importance of investment from the private sector in the development of Punjab economy”, he said.
Mr. Abdul Basit graduated from Forman Christian College Lahore. He is founder chairman of the Big Bird Group of Companies which comprises of Big Bird Poultry Breeders (Pvt) Limited, Big Feed (Pvt) Limited, Grandparent Poultry (Pvt) Limited, Pak Tek Associates and Big Bird. His Group was awarded FPCCI’s Export Merit Trophy by President of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf in recognition of the outstanding export performance of the company for the export of Broiler Hatching Eggs. In August 2003 Big Bird Poultry Breeders (Pvt) Ltd., was awarded FPCCI’s Export Merit Trophy by Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali in recognition of the outstanding export performance of the company for the export of Broiler Hatching Eggs.
He is former Senior Vice President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and also remained as a member of LCCI Executive Committee from 1997-2000. During this period he served the LCCI as Convener, Standing Committee on Agro Based Industry. He was member of the LCCI delegation to SAARC in 1999. In September 2003 he was elected unopposed as the Chairman of the Pakistan Poultry Association, Punjab Zone. He is also Senior Vice President of World Poultry Science Association P.B.
Mr. Abdul Basit is former Chairman of Pakistan Poultry Association. He is Vice President of the Public Health Education Society and is Vice President of the Lahore District Tuberculosis Association which, Association is running free Clinics that treat poor and needy tuberculosis patients in Lahore. He is a permanent member of the Lahore Gymkhana Club. He is Vice President of World Poultry Services Association (Pakistan Branch).
