Karachi, July 25, 2012 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh on Media Affairs Shurmila Faruqui has said that due to non effectiveness of National Public Safety Commission at Provincial level, the cases of extortion, target killings and other crimes have increased. It is the need of the hour that National Public Safety Commission may be made effective at Provincial level in order to curb crimes in the society.
This she said while talking to female family members of victims of target killings here in her office on Tuesday. She said that it was a prime duty of the government to protect life and property of the people and no doubt government was fulfilling its duties but it needed the support of the all stake holders and public safety Commission should be made functional and effective in the provinces to eradicate crimes such as target killings, kidnapping for ransom and other crimes as well.
She added, the purpose of Public Safety Commission was to monitor the performance of Police, FIA, FC and other law enforcement agencies and to improve their performance too.’ Sharmila Faruqui assured the women family members of victims that government would provide justice to them and would bring the killers of innocent people to task.
She also requested to the people to identify to those elements who were involved in crimes so that a comprehensive crack down could be initiated against them.
