Srinagar, October 28, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani expressing satisfaction over the success of the shutdown call and Kashmir Million March in London has said that the Kashmir dispute is gaining popularity in the world and public opinion is building for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The October 27 successful shutdown should serve an eye-opener and referendum for New Delhi and its collaborators in the territory.”
He called upon the Indian rulers to shun their rigid and stubborn approach, accept ground realities and provide Kashmiris the opportunity to decide their future.
Expressing pleasure over the success of the London Million March, Gilani termed it a welcome development. “London Million March is a right move at right time and this process should continue in future also. The government of Britain should listen to the voices of the people and they should raise this issue with the Indian government. Since England played a key role in the creation of Kashmir dispute, it is the moral responsibility of its rulers to use their influence for holding the referendum in Kashmir on the pattern of Scotland,” he added.
Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Jammu and Kashmir has expressed serious concern over the house arrest of its General Secretary, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and detention of other leaders.
