Protests erupt against hitting of IHK youth by speedy army vehicle

Srinagar, April 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, protests erupted in Islamabad town after an overspeeding Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicle deliberately hit a schoolboy and injured him critically.

The 14-year-old Umar Nazir was on his way home from school, when a CRPF vehicle hit and critically injured him near Hangalgund-Kokernag in the town. The injured student was admitted to a local hospital in critical condition.

Soon after the incident the people took to the streets and staged anti-India protest at Hangalgund and adjoining areas.

They protesters were demanding action against the CRPF personnel, responsible for the incident.

On the other hand, a 22-year-old woman, identified as Asmat Jan was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Matallhama in Kulgam.

Meanwhile, at least ten persons were killed and 12 others were injured in different mishaps in Doda and Ramban, Islamabad and Shopian districts.
