Protests, clashes greet Omar Abdullah in Shopian

Srinagar, April 16, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, people staged protests in Shopian town against the visit of the puppet chief minister, Omar Abdullah, to meet party workers while supporters of pro-India National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party were attacked in Srinagar and Shopian.

Indian police resorted to brute force and fired teargas shells on protesters who were shouting ‘No-election, no-election’, ‘Go-India go back’, ‘We want freedom’ slogans.

The protesters also attacked vehicles of National Conference leaders and workers near Bonabazar, Ramnagari and Patipora areas of Shopian when Omar Abdullah reached there amid tight security to address a rally.

Meanwhile, unknown persons attacked residences of National Conference activists with petrol bombs while a scooter belonging to People’s Democratic Party was torched in Srinagar.
