Promotion of Chinese language in Pakistan will lead towards formation of effective economic block in the region: Shah Faisal Afridi

Lahore, December 30, 2015 (PPI-OT): Promotion of Chinese language in Pakistan will lead towards formation of an effective economic block in the region through a long-term partnership of Pakistan and China in various fields of trade and Industry. It was stated by Mr. Shah Faisal Afridi, President Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry while delivering address of welcome to a 16-member Chinese delegation being led by Dr. Wang Li. The delegation included Mr. Zhao jiang lin Head of Division of International Economic Relation of National Institute of International Strategy, Mr.Zhu Ke, Vice President/ Head of Tsinghua University real Estate, Mr.Wei Zhihai, Vice President of SINOTRUK group and Mr. Han Bin Director of Institute of rail Transit of Tongji University.

He briefed the delegation about the efforts made by PCJCCI to promote Chinese language in Pakistan. He told that a pilot project in this regard was being completed in collaboration with TEVTA in Punjab and after successful completion of the pilot project in Punjab, PCJCCI will replicate Chinese Language Course also in other provinces of Pakistan.

He said that provincial government of Sind had also shown keen interest to start Chinese language program like the pilot project being run in Punjab with TEVTA. “They are keen to teach Chinese language to the students and business people of Sind. He told that PCJCCI was urging the educational institutes of Pakistan to set up Chinese language centers in their campuses to bridge communication gap between the two friendly countries. He hoped that the Chinese language programs would make the already trained skilled labor force and students of Pakistan more acceptable in the Chinese market.

He told that PCJCCI was planning to expand Chinese language across the country also through video conferencing. He said there was a vast room for Pakistani workforce in Chinese companies across the world, which could be met by equipping the local workforce with the skills required by Chinese Companies along with the Chinese language know-how.

Head of Chinese delegation Dr. Wang Li appreciated the efforts of Mr. Shah Faisal Afridi in promoting the business relations between Pakistan and China. He also applauded the deep interest to be shown by Pakistani students in learning Chinese language. He said that there were thousands of Pakistani students studying in Chinese institutions, who were facing language bar in their studies. He hoped that current Chinese language programs being run in Pakistan would help the youngsters take a leap into the future prospects.

He told that the Chinese business leaders were taking the similar measures in China to acquaint the Chinese people with Urdu language. The delegation, during general discussion, also expressed their Interest in the fields of information technology, real estate, agriculture and industrial equipment and asked PCJCCI to help match making with the local counterparts.

During discussion, other members of the delegation unanimously opined to exchange cultural and social delegations apart from the delegations of businessmen. They were of the view that Cultural exchange programs and Chinese immersion programs would progressively ascend the bond to an utmost level.
Later, Chinese delegation visited TEVTA and got highly enchanted to see impressive learning way of Chinese language courses arranged by Technical Education Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) in collaboration with PCJCCI.
