Lahore, July 17, 2012 (PPI-OT): A training program was designed and delivered by Mr. James South, Director, Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), United Kingdom for establishing of mediation Centre in LCCI. Mr. James South gave the training about key considerations in developing a Mediation Centre in LCCI.
The training was attended by Mr. Kashif Younas Meher, Senior Vice President LCCI, Mian Muzaffar Ali and Mian Anjum Nisar, Former Presidents, Engr. Sohail Lashari, Former Senior Vice President, Mr. Shafqat Saeed Piracha, Former Vice President, Mr. Khamis Saeed Butt and Sheikh Muhammad Ayub, Executive Committee Member, Ms. Nasira Taskeen and Mr. Rehmatullah Javed, Former Executive Committee Member and other distinguished members of LCCI.
The two days training provided a good insight to the participants about the working of mediation centre. The participants engaged in detailed deliberation about various working areas of a mediation centre. Mr. James South shared his experiences from around the world with regards to the impact brought by setting up mediation centre in collaboration with other chamber of commerce’s in Beirut, Morocco, Jamaica, South Africa and Egypt.
He explained to the house as to how the LCCI mediation center will provide dispute resolution services to the business community in and around Lahore. The mediation centre will help to resolve business/commercial disputes without resorting to litigation. This centre will prove to be instrumental to save time and money wasted on getting justice from traditional sources of dispute resolution.
