Privatisation Commission at Asian Frontier Markets Days in New York

Islamabad, February 26, 2014 (PPI-OT): Elixir Securities Pakistan in partnership with Credit Suisse hosted the “Asian Frontier Markets Days” in New York. The conference brought together the Privatization Commission of Pakistan, tier one global investors (having total assets under management of over USD7.6trillion) and top managements of the most successful companies from frontier markets. The event highlighted the upcoming investment opportunities in Pakistan’s Privatization program and raised awareness about top performing Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Vietnamese and Cambodian companies.

Minister of State for Privatisation, Mr. Mohammad Zubair, participated as a key note speaker and addressed the audience on the overall macroeconomic strategy, the government’s firm resolve to tackle the security situation and the privatization process. He also had one-on-one discussions with top global investors. “The response has been tremendous. I am so pleasantly surprised to see how global investors understand the opportunities Pakistan presents despite its challenges,” said Zubair.

Pakistani delegation led by Mr. Junaid Iqbal CEO Elixir Securities included Mr. AtifBajwa CEO Bank Alfalah, Mr. Khalid Mansoor CEO Hub Power Company, Mr. ShahzadSaleem Chairman Nishat Chunian Group, Mr. Raymond Kotwal CFO United Bank Limited, Ms. Naz Khan CFO Engro Corporation and Mr. Imran Anwar CFO EngroFoods. “This was our biggest road show thus far – stellar turnout with jam packed schedules. I see tremendous interest in Energy, Power, and Banking stocks. Participation in Privatisation will also be beyond one’s expectations,” said Junaid Iqbal, CEO at Elixir Securities.
