Karachi, January 05, 2016 (PPI-OT): Khalid Tawab, Senior Vice President FPCCI has expressed serious concern over non compliance of the orders of the Prime Minister for reduction of electricity price Rs. 3/- per unit for industries all over Pakistan. He said that it is astonishing that NEPRA has not yet issued notification to K-Electric to reduce the price of electricity of the industrial consumers in Karachi.
Senior Vice President further stated that the Prime Minister’s orders should be immediately implemented so that its benefits should be pass on to the consumers without any delay. Slashing the price of electricity would help in bringing down the cost of almost all products, mainly consumer items, and also cast its positive impact on industrial growth, he added. He further said that the orders are applicable from 1st January, 2016 for all industries in Pakistan.
Khalid Tawab further said that the industries in Karachi are currently facing grave difficulties and reduction in power rates is a much warranted relief for them. This will go a long way towards the revival of the industrial sector and also will be a milestone for the efforts in augmenting the declining exports and the revival of the currently closed units. Khalid Tawab urged for early issuance of notification by NEPRA to K-Electric so that this prudent decision can be implemented in time.
