Prime Minister’s Inaugurates Projects in Neelam Valley

Islamabad, July 18, 2012 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf inaugurated 76 KM Muzaffarabad – Authmuqam road today completed with total cost of Rs. 300(million) of which major chunk was with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank.

The Prime Minister said the completion of the road would open beautiful Neelam Valley to the tourists who were looking for a scenic valley for relaxation and would put it at radar screen of as most beautiful hilly resort.

Giving briefing the representatives of ERRA/SERRA said that the completion of the road was Highway of Development so far as this Neelam Valley was concerned because about three hundred thousands tourists came to valley in this season and about six hundred vehicles enters in the valley since the roads was opened for the traffic.

He said travel time has been reduced by 4½ hours about two hours from Muzaffarabad to Athmuqam. Previously only 10 tons load could pass suspension bridge and now 10 tonns load can pass. The Prime Minister was also apprised that with the completion of this project, the potential of hydro-power generation can be harnessed with comparatively ease and speed.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the newly build modern hospital with the state of art facilities. The hospital has two operation theatres, Radiology, Pathology, TB, Malaria, Blood Bank Dialysis and Dispensary. Wards consist of gynecology, Paediatrics, Medical, Surgical, ICU/CCU/NIC, 3 private rooms and 3 isolations vans.

The Prime Minister also accorded approval of Rs. 360(million) to Special Communication Organization (SCO) to provide mobile phone facilities to the resident of Neelam Valley within the period of twelve months. With the completion of the project the quality of connectivity facilities would be as good as in any part of the country, the Prime Minister added.
