Karachi, November 03, 2017 (PPI-OT):The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) appreciated the directions of the Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to the officials of the finance ministry and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to simplify the tax return forms, remove the trust deficit and developed linkages with the business community and the citizens for broadening tax network.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said the PM has indeed given the right guidelines. The FBR needs to make friendly policies and not behave like policemen. The tax payers and even the prospective tax payers need respect and guided in a friendly manner about their tax liabilities.
Thaver urged the PM to direct the FBR to remove all tax anomalies on Behbood certificate held by widows, pensioners and senior citizens as the sector is awaiting clarification on the tax liability. Needless to say that imposing tax burden on senior citizens, widows, pensioners and the families of the martyrs is uncalled for and last month the finance minister Ishaq Dar ordered the FBR to remove all anomalies.
In his absence it is very important that the PM redirect the FBR to act as time is short and the returns have to be filed before 15th November 2017 and registration is mandatory before filing. Thaver also urged the PM to insist that the FBR improves its efficiency and its internet system to enable the filers file their returns without waiting for long to get online a overloaded network.
