Islamabad, October 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has reiterated that Pakistan wants peace in the region and is not in any arms race. Pakistan’s Strategic capability will continue to follow its policy of credible minimum deterrence. He said this while visiting the National Command Center (NCC) of the National Command Authority (NCA), and a weapons storage site today.
Minister for Finance Mr. Ishaq Dar, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Shamim Wynne, Director General Strategic Plans Division (SPD) Lt. Gen ® Khalid AhmedKidwai, other senior military officers, scientists and engineers were also present during the visit.
While welcoming the Prime Minister, DG SPD highlighted that the NCC is a highly secure and fully protected facility. The Prime Minister was also briefed on the indigenously developed strategic command, control and support system, which is designed to facilitate decision making at the NCC.
PM was given a demonstration of the state-of-art connectivity of country wide strategic assets which is an exclusive network ensuring effective control over the strategic assets by the NCA.
The Prime Minister commended the skills, expertise, professionalism and dedication of individuals as well as the organizations involved in the development of the NCC and the requisite support systems.
The Prime Minister later visited a technical site where he was briefed by Commander Army Strategic Force Command. Prime Minister expressed complete satisfaction over the safe, secure and fool-proof security architecture in place for the physical safety and security of Pakistan’s Strategic Assets.
