Prime Minister House spokesman contradicts news reports that Ministry of Finance has refused to release Rs20 billion for provision of oil for Thermal Power Plants

Islamabad, April 11, 2013 (PPI-OT): A spokesman of the Prime Minister’s House has contradicted news reports carried by a section of media as unfounded wherein it has been reported that the Ministry of Finance has refused to release Rs.20 billion for provision of oil for Thermal Power Plants.

The spokesman said that the Ministry of Finance has already released an amount of Rs. 11.2 billion. In addition to this, an amount of Rs. 20 billion will be released by the Ministry of Finance in the next 30 days, said the spokesman.

The spokesman reiterated that the government is committed to ensure provision of fuel to Thermal Power Plants to ensure optimal generation of electricity.

The Ministry of Finance has been issued clear instructions to release a provisional amount of Rs.20 billion for the purpose, emphasized the spokesman.
