Islamabad, March 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso was given a comprehensive briefing on the state of Pakistan’s economy at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat this morning.
During the briefing the Prime Minister was apprised of the challenges being faced by the economy.
The Prime Minister was briefed about the current economic situation including, balance of trade, budgetary position and the role of remittances in the economy.
Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso said that Pakistan is an agricultural country and we should focus on this sector which has the potential to lift the overall economy of the country.
The Prime Minister also directed the Ministry of Finance to streamline the banking system which will help in checking Hundi and increasing remittances from the Pakistani diaspora.
The briefing was made by Secretary Finance, Mr. Abdul Khaliq and was attended by senior officials of Prime Minister’s Secretariat and Ministry of Finance.
