Karachi, December 29, 2012 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf on Friday said the federal government would provide every possible help and resources to the provincial government for restoring peace in the city. He directed the Sindh government to take stern measures for curbing the elements involved in the unrest in Karachi.
Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf who met Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan at Governor House, Karachi, said the democratic government was making history by completing its 5 years term. He expressed the resolve of his government to hold fair and free elections in the country.
Prime Minister and Sindh Governor, in their meeting, discussed various issues of high importance including political situation, law and order situation in the city and ongoing developmental projects in Karachi.
“To curb terrorism is our top most priority”, said PM Ashraf and urged that all political forces and every segment of society would have to come forward for eradicating the menace of extremism and terrorism from the country.
He said all resources would be used to protect traders and common man of Karachi from criminal elements and extortionists. “Karachi is the commercial hub of country and no economic sustainability can be witnessed until peace is restored in the city,” he added.
Prime Minister said the PPP government was making comprehensive planning for strengthening economy of the country and resolving problems of common man. The PM directed Sindh government to speed up targeted operation against the criminal elements. He also instructed it to complete all developmental projects on time.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf congratulated Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan for being conferred with highest civilian award, Nishan-e-Imtiaz for the services he had rendered during the last ten years.
