Lahore, February 18, 2015 (PPI-OT): Mr. Shah Faisal Afridi, President Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) have extended heartiest greetings to the business community and people of China on commencement of the new Chinese year from Wednesday. While addressing a Chinese New Year celebration ceremony at PCJCCI premises today, he hoped that the New Year would bring closer to the two friendly nations. The ceremony was attended by a number of prominent Chinese businessmen working in Pakistan as well as members of the PCJCCI and Haier Ruba SEZ.
Mr. Afridi told that the Chinese nation regarded “sheep” as an auspicious animal, and the Year of the Sheep, therefore, heralds a year of promise and prosperity. Therefore, the year 2015 has been termed to be an year of sheep in China, which means an year of love, peace, kindness and trust, he said adding that Pakistan was proud of being the best friend of a great country like China and assured to continue his efforts for maintaining the sincere and cordial relations with business community of China.
President PCJCCI expressed immense pleasure to get together with all the Chinese friends to celebrate the Chinese New Year and said that the year 2014 saw the rapid development of China-Pakistan relations, which had brought great opportunities also for the other Asian countries. He was confident that that through united efforts of the two countries, the bilateral relations in the future will surely write down a more glorious and successful chapter.
He acknowledged that the year 2014 was the year of harvest and progress for the bilateral relations. Both sides have enhanced the political foundation, deepened the friendship between two nations and made outstanding progresses in the fields of economic, cultural, technologic and educational cooperation. In this regard, he made a special reference of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor saying that it was naturally interlinked and mutually supported with the Silk Road Economic Belt proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, which will benefit all countries and nation of the region, especially Pakistan.
Mr. Afridi hoped that keeping in view the current geo-political situation in the region, the government and private sector of China would consider bringing more Chinese investment into Pakistan during this year.
