Lahore, June 13, 2016 (PPI-OT): President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Muhammad Arshad has urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to stop misuse of Section 38B of the Sales Tax Act 1990 in the larger interest of the trade and industry.
In a statement issued here, the LCCI President said that FBR should stop tax officials from creating an atmosphere of harassment. He said that a number of LCCI members have complained that the officials enter the business premises without prior notices or any intimation.
He said that undue notices and raids have created an atmosphere of harassment amongst the business community. He said that that all the leading economies are giving incentives to expedite economic activities in their respective countries but in Pakistan the people who are sitting at the helm of affairs are doing the otherwise at this point in time when almost all the businesses are facing a number of internal and external pressures.
He said that the private sector is ready to supplement all government efforts aimed at revival of economic activities in the country if they are provided breathing space but in the presence of such anti business tactics, it would be very difficult for the private sector to continue with their businesses.
