Karachi, December 19, 2015 (PPI-OT): Mian Muhammad Adrees, President, Federation Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry – FPCCI left for Turkey to represent Pakistan in the meetings of D-8 and ECO Meetings. ECO-CCI is one of the important affiliated bodies of the ECO whose presidency and Secretariat is currently operated from Pakistan. Mian Muhammad Adrees, President ECO-CCI and FPCCI involved in several ongoing and upcoming activities of ECO-CCI including General Assembly, Executive Committee and Specialized Committee of ECO-CCI, fourth ECO business forum to be held in Azerbaijan, ECO ASEAN business forum, first meeting of ECO Public and Private Sector Energy/Consortium etc.
President updated the house regarding the signing to TIR convention by Pakistan and its implementation status and improving the air connectivity between Pakistan and Central Asian Countries, he also informed about the holdings of ECO awareness programmes in different TV Channels and Newspapers. President FPCCI represents Pakistan in the forthcoming summit of D-8 in Turkey as well.
The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, also known as Developing-8, is an organization for development cooperation among the following countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey. The objectives of D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation are to improve member states’ position in the global economy, diversify and create new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at international level, and improve standards of living.
