Islamabad: In order to review the progress on the preparation of Electoral Rolls, a meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Justice Shakirullah Jan, Hon’ble Acting Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan and attended by the learned Members Election Commission (MECs), namely Hon’ble Justice (R) Riaz Kayani, Hon’ble Justice (R) Shahzad Akbar Khan and Hon’ble Justice (R) Fazal-ur-Rehman. Mr. Akhtar Hussain Sabir, Acting Secretary ECP, General Manager NADRA and other senior officials of the ECP
2- Abnormal increase or decrease, anomalies and errors in the preliminary Electoral Rolls of each and every district where wrong entries have been reported were discussed and a presentation was given to the Election Commission by General Manager NADRA.
3- It was decided that the learned members of the ECP would visit their respective provinces from tomorrow 17th to 22nd April, 2012, to expedite, supervise and monitor the work relating to revision of Electoral Rolls. The Hon’ble members may visit any district to gear up the work and correction of data.
4- As regards, the appearance of various news items in the electronic media on the shifting of names of voters from one electoral area to another, it was decided to invite all the stakeholders like political parties, voters, members of civil societies, NGO’s etc to come forward and specify where such discrepancies have occurred so that the ECP could make the necessary correction.
