Islamabad, May 16, 2012 (PPI-OT): On the invitation of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of Turkey, will pay a 3-day official visit to Pakistan from May 20 to May 22, 2012. The Turkish Prime Minister will be accompanied by the First Lady and high-powered delegation.
During his visit, the Turkish Prime Minister will address the joint session of Pakistan’s Parliament. It may be mentioned here that the government of Turkey bestowed a unique honour on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani during his visit to Turkey in December 2010 where he addressed the Turkish Parliament, an honour usually reserved for the heads of the states. Prime Minister Gilani was the only head of the government who was accorded very special honour to address the Turkish Parliament.
The Turkish Prime Minister will also co-chair the second High Level Cooperation Council meeting along with Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani in Islamabad. Both leaders will address the joint press conference later on after signing five Agreements of Cooperation between the two countries at the P.M. House.
It may be mentioned here that the first High Level Cooperation Council Meeting was held in Turkey in which Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani represented Pakistan in December 2010.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani will host state banquet and luncheon respectively in honour of the visiting Turkish Prime Minister and members of his delegation.
The Turkish PM will depart from Pakistan after conclusion of his 3-day official visit on May 22.
