Karachi, May 16, 2012 (PPI-OT): Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that it is prime duty of government and its agencies to maintain law and order in the province and protect the lives and properties of people, while in case of any eventuality or incident, to assist and help the affected families. This he said while distributing compensation cheques among legal heirs of victims of terrorism belonging to the year 2011, at Chief Minister House.
He expressed his grief and sorrows on sad demise of innocent people who were martyred during the act of terrorism. Chief Minister Sindh added that the innocent and poor people are always affected in such incidents. Chief Minister Sindh added that there will be full enforcing of Government and law enforcing agencies that such incidents and acts of terrorism should not occur again, and the lives, properties and business of innocent people of protected. He expressed sorrows on loss of precious lives and said that as a token, compensation amount worth Rs: two Lac to every legal-heir of affected victims is being paid.
Earlier, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Syed Sohail Akbar Shah informed that the Enquiry Commission was constituted under the directives of Chief Minister Sindh, which was led by Mr. Justice (Rtd) Zahid Qurban Alvi. The Commission was assigned task to finalize the names of victims of Terrorism for the year 2011 and their legal heirs.
It was informed that in all 476 persons became victim and each legal heir is being paid Rs: Two Lac as compensation. Chief Minister Sindh gave away cheques to 15- legal heirs of victims. The Government of Sindh has sanctioned total amount of Rs:9.52 crores for legal heirs of all 476 victims On the occasion, Mr. Justice (Rtd) Zahid Qurban Alvi presented enquiry report to Chief Minister Sindh.
