Islamabad, May 16, 2012 (PPI-OT): The sub-committee of ECC met here in Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Raja Pervez Ashraf Minister for Information Technology, to deliberate upon the modalities for procurement of LNG from international market.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Asim Hussain Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Mr. Kamal Majidullah Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on Water Resources, Mr. Nadeem-ul-Haq Deputy Chairman Planning Commission of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry Secretary Petroleum and Natural Resources, Mrs. Yasmin Abbasey Secretary Law and Justice, Mr. Saeed Ahmed Khan Chairman OGRA, Representative of Finance Division, and Senior officers of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources.
A detailed briefing by Secretary Petroleum was provided to the members of the ECC sub-committee. The committee decided to go ahead with the LNG import project through competitive bidding with a focus to ensure availability and use of RLNG to be distributed to power sector. It was further decided by the sub-committee to finalize recommendations on Monday (21st May, 2012), keeping in view the concerns of all the stakeholders.
It may be recalled that ECC in its meeting held on 15th May, 2012 decided to constitute a sub-committee to look in to the modalities of LNG import project.
