Islamabad, May 23, 2012 (PPI-OT): Masood Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China has said that Pak-China friendship will become stronger and reach new heights in the coming decades. Ambassador Masood Khan said this in a meeting with Governor Li Jiheng of Yunnan Province in Kunming. says a press release received here today from Beijing.
Ambassador Masood Khan said Pakistan and China have all weather and time tested friendship. The relations between the two countries have witnessed rapid growth in the past six decades under the dynamic leadership of the two countries. “We need to work harder to realize full potential of Pak-China economic cooperation”, he said.
Governor Li Jiheng said Yunnan is paying high attention to friendly relations with Pakistan. The Governor said that Yunnan province has played an important role in the opening up and development of the western region of China. Regular participation of Pakistan in the China-South Asia Business Forum and the 5th South Asian Countries’ Trade Fair, which are held every year in Kunming, has boosted the trade ties between Pakistan and Yunnan province, Governor Li said.
This year, Pakistan will be the Theme Country at the 5th South Asian Countries’ Trade Fair which will be held in the first week of June in Kunming.
Ambassador Masood said Yunnan is one of the most dynamic regions of China as far as reaching out to South East Asia and South Asia is concerned. It is bestowed with abundant natural resources and dynamic manpower, he added. He expressed hope that Pakistan and Yunnan would actively work to explore new avenues of advancing cooperation and cementing existing ties.
Governor Li said that in recent years enterprises from Yunnan have actively participated in the economic development of Pakistan especially in the areas of infrastructure, sewage treatment and hybrid seeds. He said that more efforts would be put to expand and widen the scope of existing cooperation.
High ranking provincial leadership, including the Vice Governor of Yunnan Province, Director General Foreign Affairs Office and Secretary General of the provincial government were present during the meeting.
