Islamabad, May 09, 2012 (PPI-OT): Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari has observed that increase in literacy level will help utilize knowledge as a vehicle of progress, development, and enlightenment, adding that Pakistan’s Parliament as well as the present people’s government is fully focused on improving literacy level and spreading education, especially among women as a conduit to empower them and bring them into the main stream of national development. He expressed these views as a chief guest on the occasion of 18th Convocation and prize distribution ceremony of Islamabad Model College for Girls (Post Graduate) G-10/4, Islamabad.
He said our resolve is rooted in the vision of our great leader Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto who was determined to provide quality Health and Education facilities to all so that the country may tap the creative abilities of the vast pool of eager and able young people for progress. Nayyer Bokhari wished the students a bright future and advised them that only hard work and commitment are the golden principles for materializing the dream of empowerment through education.
“I am sure your alma mater has not only thoroughly educated you with subject knowledge, but also endowed you with values and the ability to distinguish right from wrong” Nayyer Bokhari added. He further stated that I am sure, you have imbibed the values and skills needed to confidently deal with the challenges of a global knowledge based economy. He urged the students that whatever they choose to do and wherever they go, they will remain steadfastly committed to the ideals of excellence, hard work and social justice symbolized by their alma mater.
He also promised his assistance for establishment of an English Language lab in the college besides directing the authority concerned to provide the quarterly report on the funds being spent on education sector earmarked under Islamabad development package. He congratulated the graduating students on their proud achievement and appreciated the keen interest of the parents and teachers, who supported and guided them on the road to success.
He called upon the students that the journey they are embarking upon today demands commitment to use all creative, constructive and critical impulses to improve the quality of life not just for a few, but for all Pakistanis. Earlier Principal of the college Durdana Asrar in her welcome address highlighted the achievements of the College and the role played by it in spreading education. The Chairman Senate also distributed prizes and certificates among the students who excelled in various disciplines.
