PPI Original Text (PPI-OT) – Federally Administered Tri bal Areas Parliamentarians meet Prime Minister

Islamabad, May 28, 2012 (PPI-OT): Senators and MNAs from FATA led by Haji Muneer Khan Orakzai met Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at the Prime Minister’s House today and felicitated the Prime Minister as being the longest serving democratically elected Prime Minister of the country and thus made an enviable history.

They also endorsed the ruling of the Speaker of the National Assembly adding that the decision of the Speaker would establish the supremacy of Parliament and the strengthening of the democratic institutions in the country.

They assured their consistent support to the democratic government led by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani because this government was striving hard to strengthen democracy. They expressed their appreciation for allocating record funds for the socio economic development of the people of FATA.

They thanked the Prime Minister for inviting them to seek consultations with regard to determine priorities in the next Annual Development Plan (ADP).

Minister for Finance briefed the delegation about the upcoming budget aimed at ensuring regional balance and equitable allocation of government resources.

The needs of FATA citizens came under discussion with special reference to imparting training in information technology sector including setting up of such centres.

It was also decided that the Federal Government would set up a modern hospital in FATA to provide medical facilities to the people.

The projects of Medical College, Cadet College and IT University will be taken up at the earliest, the Finance Minister added.
