Islamabad, May 16, 2014 (PPI-OT): A delegation of Poultry Association led by its Chairman Dr. Muhammad Aslam called on Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar to discuss proposals related to Budget 2014-15.
The delegation informed the Finance Minister that there is huge potential in Poultry Industry provided appropriate measures are taken to exempt sales tax on import of plant and machinery related to the industry. The Chairman also informed that currently there are no incentives for setting up the industry in rural and far flung areas.
He requested the Finance Minister for considering an incentive package for rural areas so that the poultry industry can be set up in far flung areas which will provide jobs to the local population and develop the agriculture sector too.
He informed that today agriculture and poultry industries are associated to each other. The Finance Minister was also informed that in a neighbouring country there is 100% import duty on finished and value added poultry products whereas there is no import duty of raw material.
The Finance Minister assured the Association that their proposals will be considered sympathetically by the Finance Ministry and in this regard directed the FBR officials to hold a meeting with the Poultry Association representatives on Tuesday to discuss issues faced by the industry.
The Finance Minister further said that all proposals which can help generate employment and develop the rural sector will be considered sympathetically by the government as it is in line with the PML-N manifesto.
