Peshawar: Federal Minister and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Madame Farzana Raja has said that the democratic government led by Pakistan People’s Party believes in a spirit of national reconciliation and working together to confront various economic as well as political challenges being faced by the country.
After return of President Asif Ali Zardari in the country, she said, the rumours mongers now ought to stop this business and instead should concentrate on the issues and problems of the masses. She added further that the democratic government would complete its legal term and only people of Pakistan have the right to decide about their future leadership.
She said this while distributing the cheques worth Rs. 1.5 lac each among more than 400 beneficiary families under Waseela-e-Haq Scheme of BISP in Governor House Peshawar. She was accompanied by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while Mr. Rahim Dad, Provincial Minister, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Munir Ahmed Orakzai Parliamentary Leader of FATA and members of Provincial Assembly were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood kauser highlighted the sacrifices made by the people of the province and FATA while being at forefront in the war against terrorism. He said that keeping in view the economic sufferings of the people, and for their betterment, these regions should be given priority in any programme including BISP.
He appreciated the leadership of PPP and ANP for saving Pakistan by showing tremendous resilience. He said that the terrorism has almost been eliminated from the region of FATA. While lauding the efforts of BISP, Barrister Masood Kauser said that the successful execution of a programme like BISP in a developing country like Pakistan is a remarkable achievement.
Madame Farzana Raja on the occasion said that President Asif Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani have given practical manifestation to the slogan of ‘Roti, Kapra aur Makkan’ through BISP.
She acknowledged the fact that the people of KP and FATA have made tremendous sacrifices against terrorism and thus they will be a priority in every programme aimed at the wellbeing of the people. She said that the poverty survey in Bajour and Kurram agencies have already been completed while it is almost in the final stages in the rest of the region.
Chairperson BISP Madame Farzana Raja said that BISP is serving the people of Pakistan without any consideration of caste, creed, religion and political affiliations. Madame Farzana Raja expressed her hope that the families who have received this financial assistance would be able to run successful businesses and achieve financial self-sustainability in an honorable way.
Chairperson BISP said that more than 22% population of Pakistan that is living below the poverty line is being served by BISP through financial assistance as well as schemes aiming at promotion of business, vocational training and education.
She said that more than 1 million children of beneficiary families would be enrolled in the schools in the first phase of Waseela-e-Taleem initiative of BISP. Madame Farzana Raja reiterated that there is no confrontation among the institutions of the state and the political jugglers who have longings for such crisis should change their mindset and concentrate on service for the people of Pakistan instead. Otherwise, people of Pakistan will never forgive them.
