Karachi: DCO Karachi Roshan Ali Shaikh has said that more polio cases had been reported in the city if compared to previous year which showed that the last 108 polio eradication campaigns were not proved successful. The 109th Polio Eradication Campaign was started now in which 5513 teams and 200 supervisors would take part.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of town administrators in Civic Center on Tuesday.
DCO Karachi said that the polio virus was now eliminated from rest of the world except in four countries including Pakistan. If we did not work hard then we will have to suffer as a nation. In some areas of the city locals were not allowing polio eradication teams to administer polio vaccine to their children.
He directed officers to get police help for making this campaign successful and also remove any delusions in the minds of people about polio vaccination. We must take this work as jehad and save our children from this disease.
