Lahore, October 16, 2012 (PPI-OT): The police officials/officers who are providing protection to the lives and properties of the citizens by putting the lives at stake deserve appreciation at top government level. The head-money amount distributed among these officers/officials for their commendable services can never be a matching reward. These hardworking officers are an asset of the department and their services must be acknowledged.
Inspector General of Police Punjab (IGP) Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman expressed these views while addressing the prize distribution ceremony held at Central Police Office today. The IGP distributed cash prizes and commentary certificates among the brave police officers/officials for capturing and eliminating the most wanted and hardened criminals, having head-money worth millions of rupees.
Additional-IG (Investigations) Punjab Naseem-ul-Zaman, DIG (Investigations) Punjab Abubakar Khuda Bukhsh, and SSP (Investigations) Dr Muhammad Abid Khan were also present on this occasion besides other senior officers.
The IGP distributed cash prizes worth Rs 1.9 million among 58 police officers/officials from all over the province for playing leading role in the operations in which at least seven hardened criminals were either captured or killed. Two other police officials were also given commendatory certificates for their outstanding performance.
According to details, the police arrested PO Muhammad Shafi alias Shafia of Muzaffar Garh district with head money of 500,000, Muhammad Kamran PO of Khanewal district with head-money of Rs 100,000, Iftikhar alias Billa PO of Pakpattan district with head-money of Rs 200,000, Waqar son of Shah Zaman PO of Attock district with head-money of Rs 200,000, Shahzad PO of Sahiwal district with head-money of Rs 200,000, and Mast alias Masta PO of Sahiwal district with head-money of Rs 100,000 also were arrested. Similarly, the most wanted PO of Vehari district Muhammad Yasin alias Lundo with head-money of Rs 600,000 was killed in the police encounter.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters after the ceremony the provincial police chief said that the police have been put on high-alert across the Punjab and all the police headquarters are directed to intensify security.
