Police foil resistance leaders’ meeting in Srinagar

Srinagar, March 19, 2017 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police foiled a meeting of resistance leaders, scheduled to be held at Tehreek-e-Hurriyet (TeH) head office at Hyderpora in Srinagar. A statement issued by a Hurriyet spokesman said, “The police raided the Tehreek-e-Hurriyet (TeH) head office and foiled the proposed meeting of resistance leaders. The forces laid a siege around Tehreek-e Huriyet office in Hyderpora and office bearers including visitors were not allowed to enter the office premises.”

“The joint resistance leadership had made a programme to discuss future strategy about Indian Parliamentary by-elections scheduled to be held in Srinagar and Islamabad constituencies on 9th and 12th April, 2017 and participants were expected to present their view point over the issue,” the statement added.

Deploring the unabated arrests, the spokesman said, “Today Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah and Muhammad Ashraf Laya were again placed under house arrest while Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested and shifted to jail. Syed Ali Gilani also remained under house arrest.” Strongly criticizing the detention of pro-freedom leadership, the spokesman termed it worst kind of state terrorism.
