‘Police directed to remain on high alert in order to ensure provision of best health facilities to patients’

Lahore, July 02, 2012 (PPI-OT): The police are directed to remain on high alert across the Punjab province in order to ensure provision of uninterrupted and best health facilities to the patient at the Public Hospitals. The doctors are working freely in all the public hospitals amid tight police security and the police are also directed to strictly deal with the miscreants if they try to take the law into their hands.

This was stated by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman while addressing a high level meeting held to review the current situation after the strike called by the Young Doctor’s Association. Addtl: IGP Malik Khuda Bakhsh Awan and senior police officers were also present in the meeting.

It was decided in the meeting that the doctors serving in the police department have been deployed immediately at 06 Public Hospitals of Lahore and other cities as well so that the ailing community would be provided timely medical facilities and treatment. According to details, Dr. Mirza Shakeel Ahmed, DIG/EPF, Lahore in Mayo Hospital, Lahore, Dr. Mohammad Azeem Khan Leghari, DIG in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore, Dr. Masood Saleem, SSP/CTD in Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, Dr. Tariq Chohan in Services Hospital, Lahore, Dr. Mohammad Iqbal, ASP/SDPO/Sadar Cicle, Sheikhupura in Lahore General Hospital and DSP Dr. Mustansar Atta Bajwa has been deployed in Children Hospital, Lahore where they will perform their medical duties.

The meeting was also informed that a police officer of SP rank has been deployed immediately in each teaching hospital to supervise security situation to avoid any untoward incident in the hospital’s premises. Moreover, it was also decided to nominate Dr. Mirza Shakeel Ahmed as a coordinator / focal person to keep constant coordination with the Health Department. He will be also responsible to have close liaison with the medical superintendents of these hospitals.
