Police constable decamps with four rifles in IOK

Srinagar, January 17, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a police constable, deployed at the security of injured Deputy Superintendent, Irshad Ahmad Butt in Islamabad district, has deserted the police force and decamped with four AK-47 rifles. A senior police official told media men that policeman Shakoor Parray, a resident of Shopian district, had deserted the police force. “He fled with 4 AK-47 rifles including his own service rifle from Bijbehara last night,” he added. The police officer said the cop was posted as an escort to Deputy Superintendent, Irshad Ahmad Butt, who was seriously injured in a militant attack in Bijbehara on December 24 last year.

He suspected that the policeman might have joined freedom fighters. Earlier, in March 2015, police constable Naseer Ahmad Pandit of Pulwama had decamped with two rifles and joined Mujahideen. Pandit was posted at the residence of senior PDP leader and former Minister for Roads and Buildings, Altaf Bukhari’s in Srinagar.
