Police arrest Pulwama boy blinded in one eye

Srinagar, March 26, 2017 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a youth who lost his sight in one eye due to pellet injury in 2016 uprising was arrested by Pulwama Police during a nocturnal raid in Murran village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Mudasir Ahmad Yatoo, 17, pellet-blinded in one eye was arrested by police on the allegations of stone pelting.

Due to the serious pellet injury in his left eye, Mudasir Ahmad Yatoo, a resident of Sheikhpora Murran, was staying home at the time since 2016 uprising.

“When my son was hit by pellets, from that date he was not part of any protests or stone pelting and was bedridden. Still police arrested him on the stone pelting charges,” deplored Yatoo’s father, Bashir Ahmad.

The family said that despite the promises by the authorities to provide compensation to the pellet-hit youth, the boys are being victimized and arrested instead.

Bashir Ahmad, a daily labor said, “My son need eye drop medicine and police officials are not allowing us to help our half-blind son.”
