Islamabad, October 29, 2013 (PPI-OT): Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that enhanced people-to-people and parliamentary contacts would further solidify the existing warm relations between Pakistan and China. He said that Pakistan and China were not only neighbors but time-tested and all-weather friends whose hearts beat together. The Speaker was talking to a delegation of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) led by Mr. Wang Zhengwei, Vice Chairman of CPPCC which called on him in Parliament House, this evening.
The Speaker said that friendship and cooperation between the two countries serve the fundamental interests of the both countries and peoples, and contribute to peace, stability and development in the region and beyond.
He said that Pakistan strongly desire to further consolidate and deepen its deep-rooted, all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation for mutual benefit of both the nations. The Speaker said that Pakistan appreciates the strong support and selfless assistance from the Chinese government and people for its economic and social development.
He expressed his optimism that the proposed economic corridor between Pak-China would generate economic activity for mutual benefit of both the countries. The Speaker informed his Chinese colleagues that Chinese solar power generation system was being installed in Pakistani Parliament which would illustrate the strong bonds between two countries.
Mr. Wang Zhengwei said that Chinese government always regards Pakistan its closest friend and wants to further deepen China-Pakistan friendship and pass it on from generation to generation. He expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s longstanding firm support on issues that concern China’s core interests. He conveyed his government’s desire to further intensify economic and defence cooperation with Pakistan apart from parliamentary cooperation.
Underlining the need for further enhancing Parliamentary cooperation between Chinese National People’s Congress and National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that boosting the contacts between parliamentarians of both the countries would advance better understanding for achieving common goal of development.
He informed the dignitaries that Pak-China Friendship Group in National Assembly had already been constituted and be reciprocated by Chinese side. He asked Mr. Wang to convey his invitation to his Chinese counterpart to visit Pakistan.
Mr. Wang appreciated Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for his efforts for fostering friendship between China and Pakistan and assured China’s perpetual support to Pakistan whenever required. He said that China would assist Pakistan in exploitation of its immense economic potential through public and private investment in diverse fields. He said that Chinese Government’s plans to enhance cooperation in energy and economic sectors and infrastructure development in Pakistan.
