People stage ant-India demos in Srinagar

Srinagar, March 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police used brute force and fired teargas shells on peaceful protesters in Srinagar. Several people were injured in violent police action while one protester who received tear gas shell in his stomach at Habba Kadal was shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.

Journalists said that the police assaulted them when they were covering the protests.

Hundreds of people shouting slogans “We want freedom” and “Go India go” took out a march from Rajouri Kadal and passed through various areas of Srinagar.

The march was conducted to press the demand for return of mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Mohammad Maqbool Butt and Mohammad Afzal Guru, from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail and protest against the death of a Kashmir research scholar who was found dead in university in Hyderabad city of India on Saturday.
