Karachi, March 24, 2013 (PPI-OT): Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan and Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (R) Zahid Qurban Alvi have directed the law enforcement agencies to implement on the orders of Supreme Court in letter and spirit for restoration of peace in Karachi.
They expressed these views while addressing a high-level meeting at Governor House. Acting-Chief Secretary Arif Khan, Principal Secretary to Governor Dr Naushad Sheikh, Special Home Secretary Muddassir Iqbal, Commissioner Karachi Hashim Raza Zaidi, DG Rangers, Additional IG Police Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh and DHA administrator were also present.
Governor said it is necessary to deal criminals with iron hand in order to create a sense of protection amongst masses. He said it also need to take action against criminal elements regardless of their affiliation, as the fear of law enforcement agencies has ended in the hearts of these people involved in unlawful activities.
He stressed of comprehensive action against criminals elements in areas where the writ of government is weak as pointed by the apex court. He also showed concern over rise in the crime rate in DHA and some other areas. He directed the authorities concerned to take strict action against those involved in these illegal activities.
He instructed for comprehensive drive against fancy number plates, tinted glasses of vehicles and fancy motorcycles number plates. He directed for stern action against the illegal display of arms, ordering better snap checking in city.
It was also decided in the meeting to establish check posts at all exist and entrance points of Defence Housing Authority.
He said the restoration of peace is essential to hold free and fair elections in Sindh province, particularly in Karachi.
