Srinagar, March 18, 2017 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior Hurriyet leader, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, has said that peace and conflict cannot coexist and resolution of Kashmir dispute is imperative for peace and development in the region.
Professor Abdul Ghani Butt talking to different delegations in Kulgam and Islamabad districts urged India and Pakistan to understand ground realities, shun confrontation and find ways and means to resolve Kashmir dispute. “If you have chosen to ensure peace and development in the region, you shall have to address Kashmir dispute,” he added.
Professor Abdul Ghani Butt emphasized that Kashmir dispute had gone beyond traditional contours. “No alternative is available with either Pakistan or India other than talks. Dialogue is more important than those threats they time and again unleash against each other,” he maintained.
The senior Hurriyet leader said, “We should understand that without dialogue nothing can happen. India and Pakistan came into existence in 1947 and since then these two countries have fought wars on Kashmir.” The time has come when Indian leadership should take appropriate steps to settle the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations, he added.
