Lahore, November 11, 2015 (PPI-OT): Pakistan’s Foundry Industry has great potential which needs to be tapped with the special support initiatives like Foundry Service Centre (FSC) for making the industry competitive both in the domestic as well as international market.
It was stated by Mr. Sikandar Mustafa Khan, President Pakistan Foundry Association while speaking as Chief Guest on the opening ceremony of a training workshop organized by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) at FSC on “Iron Casting Methods” Mr. Nabeel A Khan an International Foundry Technologist was the key Resource Person of the workshop, who delivered lecture as well as conducted practical sessions on the most modern global trends in Iron Methoding.
Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) and Mr. Javed Afzal, Project Director FSC also addressed the workshop. Mr. Sikandar Mustafa, in his address, urged upon the Foundry Sector businessmen to enter into the export market by producing quality products with the assistance of FSC. He appreciated SMEDA for taking progressive initiatives to make the industry competitive and sustainable.
The renowned global foundry expert Mr. Nabeel Khan apprised the participants about the modern methods of iron casting and claimed that the local industry could minimize casting rejections and achieve high quality at par with the standards prevalent in the world market.
Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering and Technology (UET), speaking on this occasion, applauded the efforts of SMEDA, Foundry Service Centre, and Pakistan Foundry Association for organizing the training workshop on latest global trends in Foundry Industry with the help of the international Foundry Technologist Mr. Nabeel Khan.
Project Director FSC Mr. Javed Afzal assured to hold a series of training workshops also in future on modern technical methods involved in the foundry industry at world level. However, he called upon the industrialists to take maximum benefits from the facilities available in the FSC.
It is notable that the FSC is a joint initiative of SMEDA, UET and PFA, which has been established to provide various modern facilities including Prototype Development, Testing, Pattern Designing, Simulation, Training and Consultation services to foundry industry in Lahore and nearby areas.
