Lahore, December 30, 2015 (PPI-OT): Pakistan’s Foundry Industry has great potential which needs to be tapped with the special support initiatives like Foundry Service Centre (FSC) for making the industry competitive both in the domestic as well as international market. This was stated by Dr. Fazal A. Khalid, Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore while speaking as Chief Guest on the Closing Ceremony of a training workshop organized by the Pakistan Foundry Association and Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) at Foundry Service Centre, Lahore. The topic of the training workshop was “Steel Casting Methods”. This was the second workshop in row conducted by Mr. Nabeel A. Khan, an international Foundry Technologist, who delivered lecture as a key resource person and also conducted practical sessions on the most modern global trends in Steel Casting Methoding.

Mr. Asim Qadri, Director, Qadbros Engineering and Mr. Muhammad Javed Afzal, Project Director Foundry Service Centre also addressed the participants on this occasion.

Dr. Fazal A. Khalid, Vice Chancellor, UET Lahore, in his address, urged upon the Foundry Industry to take full advantage of the opportunities coming ahead like “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor” (CPEC) Projects and the huge potential to take more share in the export market by producing quality products with the assistance of FSC. He appreciated SMEDA for taking progressive initiatives to make the industry competitive and sustainable.

The renowned global Foundry Expert Mr. Nabeel Khan apprised the participants about the latest and most modern methods and techniques of steel casting Methoding and claimed that the local industry could minimize casting rejections and achieve high quality at par with the standards prevalent in the world market.

Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering and Technology (UET), speaking on this occasion, applauded the efforts of SMEDA, Foundry Service Centre, and Pakistan Foundry Association for organizing the training workshop on latest global trends in Foundry Industry with the help of the international Foundry Technologist Mr. Nabeel Khan.

Project Director Foundry Service Centre, Mr. Muhammad Javed Afzal briefed the audience about the range of services being offered at Foundry Service Centre and urged the participants to take maximum benefit of the available facilities for the foundry industry. He assured to hold such training workshops in future also on modern technical methods involved in the foundry industry at the world level. He also called upon the industrialists to take maximum benefits from the facilities available in the FSC.
