Islamabad, April 23, 2014 (PPI-OT): H.E Ms. Attiya Mahmood, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Indonesia presented her credentials to the President of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Susilo Bambang Yodhoyono at a ceremony held at President House- Istana Negara in Jakarta, today. The credentials presentation ceremony was attended by the Foreign Minister and officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs besides high officials of the Presidency.
The Indonesian President after conveying his best wishes to the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan offered all possible support and cooperation in trade and investment sectors. He also mentioned the need to find new opportunities for the mutual benefit of the two countries. He specifically expressed the need for cooperation in climate change, reduction of global poverty and international security.
During the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed the warmest greetings from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan to President Yodhoyono. She also congratulated him for the free, fair and peaceful elections held in Indonesia.
The Ambassador also conveyed the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif’s message to further strengthen bilateral ties underpinned by enhanced economic cooperation. The Ambassador also expressed the desire to start work towards negotiations on FTA following the operationalization of PTA last year. The Ambassador also thanked the Indonesian President for Indonesia’s continued support to Pakistan in the ASEAN forum.
