Karachi: Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has said that Pakistani products have capacity of capturing international markets, if they get an equal chance.
“The Pakistanis feel proud when they see made in Pakistan products in super stores of other countries”, he said while talking to newly elected representatives of Rice Exporters’ Association of Pakistan (REAP) at the Governor House. He said our crops were affected badly due to rains and flood, but by the grace of Allah Pakistan successfully achieved the rice export target.
The Governor said the government is working to evolve a policy to minimise the loss of crops due to changes in weather conditions in this region.
He said that the agriculture sector is backbone of the economy of Pakistan and we should lay emphasis on value addition of our output so that the country could earn more foreign exchange from its exports.
The office bearers of the Association informed the Governor that Pakistan is exporting 0.45 million tons of rice to different countries annually. They also requested the Governor for setting up of a Training Institute and Rice Testing Lab in Karachi, on which the Governor assured them of full cooperation.
