Islamabad: His Highness Amir of Qatar Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani said “Your visit Mr. Prime Minister has opened up new chapter of Pakistan and Qatar relations” said Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani when he met the Qatari delegation led by Dr. Mohammad Bin Saleh Al-Saadah, Minister for Energy and Industry, State of Qatar today at PM’s House today.
The Prime Minister welcomed the delegation and said that prompt visit of the delegation to Pakistan clearly manifested the keenness of the both governments to enhance cooperation in multi-dimensional sectors.
The Prime Minister emphasized to keep up the momentum including exchange of high level delegations, associated with the fields of energy, hydel power generation, agriculture, infra-structure and aviation to harness the full potential existing between the two brotherly countries.
The Prime Minister appreciated the progress which had been made regarding the import of LNG after the signing of MoU in this regard during the visit of the Prime Minister to Qatar.
The Prime Minister directed the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan to organize an exhibition of Pakistani products in Doha for which the government of Qatar renewed their full cooperation to the Prime Minister during his meeting with the leadership of the host country. Such an exhibition would brighten up the prospects of creation of demand for Pakistani products in Qatar, he said.
On invitation from the Qatari head of delegation, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan would participate in the “Climate Change Conference” being held in Qatar during the month of November this year.
The Prime Minister directed the BOI to facilitate the investment companies of Qatar those were interested to invest in Pakistan. On the direction of the Prime Minister, “Hassad Investment Company”, a food security company of Qatar, was issued licence within a day which suffered delay due to bureaucratic red-tapism for the last many years.
The Prime Minister also directed the Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar, now visiting Pakistan, to coordinate meetings of the members of the delegation with Pakistani businessmen and government officials.
The Prime Minister reiterated his invitation to the Amir of Qatar and the Prime Minister of Qatar to visit Pakistan at the earliest convenience preferably on 23rd March this year which is Pakistan Day. The Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes for His Highness and Prime Minister of Qatar.
While reciprocating the sentiments, the leader of the delegation Dr. Mohammad Bin Saleh Al-Saadah said that he was grateful for the warmth and hospitality by the government and the people of Pakistan.
He assured the Prime Minister that his government would support FTA between Pakistan and GCC that would open vast vistas for enhancing trade relations between the GCC countries and Pakistan. He also extended his gratitude for Pakistan’s support regarding the convening of the Climate Change Conference adding that Pakistan’s participation would make a qualitative difference about its success.
Delegation of Qatar included Ambassador of the State of Qatar H.E Mr Sayar Abdul Rahman Al-Mawdah, Executive Director of Qatari Electricity and Water Mr Fahad Hamad Al-Mahdi, Executive President of International Qatar Petroleum Mr Nasir Khalil Al Jeda, Executive President of Qatar Gas Sheikh Khalid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and other senior officers.
Minister for Commerce Makhdoom M. Amin Faheem, Minister for Vocational and Technical Training Mr Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Advisor to Prime Minister on Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain, Secretary BOI, Secretary Planning and Development, Secretary IT, Pakistan Ambassador in Qatar, Acting Secretary EAD, Chairman, WAPDA, Chairman TDAP, Chairman NHA, MD NPC and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
