Karachi, March 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) has demanded of the high ups in the government to immediately remove the massive encroachments on the Korangi Industrial Area’s roads. Chairman PTA’s Law and Order Committee, Gulzar Firoz in a press statement has invited immediate attention of the authorities concerned to the encroachment of Tannery Zone approach roads, Roads 5000 and 7000 where daily long-haul oil tankers of Attock Refinery are parked and wait for their turn to get delivery of oil. At some points, the tankers are parked in double row on these roads along with third row on the other-side of the roads leaving hardly any space for flow of the two-way traffic and it can result in head-on , fatal accidents especially at peak hours of morning and evening.
The tankers are thus causing a serious traffic problem for the people working in Tannery Zone, doctors and students of Jinnah Medical College and Hospital and the residents of Sharifabad. The Department of Traffic Police was repeatedly approached which helped to keep the roads clear off the tankers for subsequent a few days and latter the tankers again returned with the same problem which Traffic Police has completely failed to resolve.
The Refinery being a huge organization is ignoring requests for cooperation, due to its influence and persisting with the practice. He appealed to all the concerned high-ups for enforcement of traffic rules and discipline on said roads and rescue law-abiding people here from potential incidents of risk. He also demanded of the Governor Sindh to intervene and order the local administration to carry out the operation..
